The New Vintage~ Here Comes The Bride

In every decade, the bridal industry will have an icon who defines the way woman want to gets dressed on their special day.  Who can forget Princess Diana who created the trend of Big dresses with Puffy Sleeves in the 80s, Victoria Beckham’s minimalist princess creation by the iconic mother of bridal Vera Wang in the 90s who left brides trying to alter their bodies to fit into the gowns; or Gwen Stefani ‘s hand dipped creation by John Galliano who proved to rockchicks all over the world that they can still be unique yet elegant on their special day.
If I have to pick an Icon for this decade, it will be Kate Middleton’s Long Sleeve creation by Sarah Burton, Inspired by another Icon Grace Kelly the modest dress have caused many bridal designers to add lace and place sleeves onto their designs, for brides to choose vintage style wedding dress on their big day.
Inspired by this trend, my BTW-WORKSHOP team have put together 3 looks which will hopefully inspire my style sisters and my style brother’s other half in the future.

A Modement Like This

Its never easy for my guys to find menswear in Hong Kong, which are good quality, unique in design which are tailored and timeless. For my fashion brothers who are looking for these qualities in clothing, then Modement is the answer.

My followers on Instagram knows that some of the most memorable fashion moments at events in the past year always involve wearing this local design brand found by award winning fashion designer Aries Sin who have dressed a number of Celebrities from Andy Hui to Candy Lo. I’ve always loved Modement’s andrognous design asethetic and the craftsmanship and attention to detail of every piece of clothing.

My favourite "modements" of the past year

My favourite “Modements” of the past year

The Concept for Modement S/S 2014 collection is “Emptiness”, The idea that people in our society are lost in the material world suffocated by broken relationships, distorted values and virtual promises. Many pieces in this beautiful collection uses glow in the dark materials which highlights the silhouettes worn at night. The mechanical print is a signature print in this collection designed by the Modement Team. Here are my top picks from this collection.

The Signature Suit
This show piece plaid suit is the piece that introduced me to Modement at the Fashionally fashion show in Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014. The suit is trimmed with the glow in the dark fabric. I really love the way the trimmings give an illusion which slims the lines of the figure.

The Samurai Vest with Shorts
This 2 piece ensemble is one of the most unique yet wearable pieces of the collection. The vest can be worn with a nice shirt underneath for cooler weather to work. The cut of the V is cut perfectly to wear without a shirt underneath showing too much skin for the more adventurous fashionistas. The woven shorts is a beautiful wardroble staple to be mixed into anything in a Men’s wardrobe.

The Signature Print
One of my favourite prints of the year. Its so dramatic without being too wild and the black and white makes it so versatile. This cowl neck top is reversable and can be translated into winter layered with a shirt or a turtle neck underneath. The shorts are great for events paired with a basic black tee or shirt in summer.

The Print of the Season

The T-Shirt and Trousers
The Modement take on the classic smart casual style for summer. The tee feature glow in the dark material mixed with black in a jacquard style print. The”shadow movement” trousers is a more wearable and simple take of the plaid trousers worn with look 1. Its so comfortable and wearable, the day in the dark trimmings on the edges slims the legs so much. Its another versatile piece which can be worn with most pieces of clothing in a mens wardrobe.
