NEW SHOP ON THE BLOCK- CROSS THE LINE

As a self-confessed shopaholic, I often find myself looking for different places to shop during a dinner break or in the middle of a sleepless night.  During those moments we often enter an online shop without knowing where to shop or what to look for.  If you need a shop which A- Support Asian Online Brands , B- Well Organised , C- Gives you inspiration on the latest trends and directs you to the pieces they have available then Cross The Line is the Shop for you.

Cross The Line Page

Launched in August 2014, Cross The Line is an Online Platform which promotes up and coming fashion designers both in Hong Kong and Around Asia.  At the moment, they have 6 Fashion brands for HK and 5 Designers in Taiwan with many more to come in the future.  One of the things I find special about Cross The Line is the fact that every month, they will have a feature which serves as Inspiration for the styles of that month available in the shop. This not only allows easy access but also inspires us to look for pieces in our wardrobe which goes with our online purchases.  Also, it is a platform which not only supports HK Fashion Talents, but also introduces you to talents in Taiwan or different parts of Asia.

Without further dodads, here are my favourite pieces from each designer available at Cross The Line.

Luminous Elegance -~ Classic Party Hair Styles with a twist.

As a hair stylist , One of the most frequently asked questions is what is the trend for hairstyles this fall?  It is a very subjective question because there are so many hairstyles presented both on the runways, editorials and hair shows.  There is also the questions of the translation from runway to the every day runway so I never really have an answer for that question since in Coco Chanel’s famous words “Fashion fades, only style remains the same” .

However, every season I try to bring a twist to few classic styles so my clients don’t get bored. That’s why my team and I decided to do a photo shoot using those classic hairstyles but bringing a new twist to the styles we know and love.

hairtrendsthiswinter

The theme of this series is “Luminous Elegance”.  For the past decade one general hair trend for women all over the world is for the hair to look healthy , smooth and shiny without too much or too heavy product. We also want to keep the hairstyle relatively simple (apart from one avant-garde style) so we chose a model with beautiful jet black hair for this shoot.  So without too much chitchat, here are the results.

LOOK 1~ THE PONYTAIL

The Pony-tail could be one of the first hairstyles which a girl have ever had in their lives. Its a classic style which is good for both day and evening.  To update this classic, the front section is swept to one side, braided and wrapped around in circles to create a mini bun. The rest of the hair is straightened tied back into a ponytail to create this classic with a modern twist.

LOOK 3~ THE CHIGNON
newallback

The  Chignon is one of the most classic hairstyles for evening hair dressing. One of the problems I found in this style is the fact that it never looks good from the front.  To solve this problem I’ve decided to put the hair in a side part then pull the hair into a ponytail on the nape of one side of the neck.  The hair is then braided into a 4 strand round braid then pinned to the opposite side of the forehead to hide the side part.  It is an elegant chignon style which looks good from all angles.

LOOK 3~ THE HAIR DOWN
newhairdown

One of the most requested hairstyles especially for asian girls is to have their hair down. We wanted to make it look more polished by keeping the hair straight. The hair is styled in 3 sections. The side sections are swept back in a small, tight ponytail. The top section is swept back to keep the focus on the face making it look super clean and elegant.

LOOK 4~ THE AVANT-GARDE
newavantgarde

As a hair stylist, sometimes we try to push our creativity and to experiment with new techniques ,silhouettes and products to create hairstyles which may not be every day women but looks amazing in editorial photo shoots.  This hair style is created with hair extensions transformed into the form of fabric. Really want to try to create a style which looks like a hairpiece created out of hair.

So thats the end of the shoot. Hope you enjoy the photos my team and I created for you this week.  For more photo shoots by me and my team, follow my blog  for future posts for behind the scene post of the concept of the photos.  For my daily post of our editorial work, check our BTW-Workshop facebook page.

HONG KONG FASHION WEEK LOTD Featuring HK Fashion Talents

Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring Summer 2015 have arrived.
It is the time of the year in which fashion designers rush to show their beautiful collections. It is also the time of the year which bloggers and fashionistas tear their brains out struggling to decide what to wear to which fashion show and what the dress code for each show may be while staying true to our personal styles while keeping it appropriate for the hot and humid weather in Hong Kong.
hk fashion week bannerEvery Season, I try to treat the 4 days like a Fashion Editorial and have a theme which will translate between the 4 days.  This year, with the privilege to sit front row in several shows, one of which featuring Hong Kong fashion designers, I’ve decided to feature one HK Fashion Brand in my outfit each day. So here is the rundown of what I wore each day.

DAY 1-MODEMENT

Top | Modement Shorts | Modement

TOP | MODEMENT, SHORTS | MODEMENT , BOOTS | TRICKERS  , CLUTCH | JUUN J x JOYCECARES  , EYEWEAR | FRENK

As I have shared in my previous post one of my favourite Hong Kong fashion brands in Hong Kong is Modement .  Since it was a very hot day, somehow it feels right to wear the Samurai Vest and shorts set in my favourite print of the collection.  Also last year at the same fashion show was the show which introduced me to Modement so it feels a little bit sentimental to wear this to the fashion show.

Congratulations to Aries and her team for an amazing fashion show

DAY 2 – SKETCHAROUND

SKETCHAROUND is a Hong Kong Fashion Fashion Brand I’ve recently discovered during a shopping trip at Novelty Lane .  I really love the way in which the designers integrate Hand drawings into their work.  Which is why this top becomes a crucial of my outfit for day 2 ( eventhough sitting down or eating wasn’t easy in that cropped top lol )

DAY 3 – 112MOUNTAINYAM

SHIRT | MODEMENT , PANTS | 112MOUNTAINYAM , BLAZER | 112MOUNTAINYAM , SHOES | VERSACE X H&M , CLUTCH | MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA X H&M , EYEWEAR | TIMBEELO , HAT | STICKYLINE X FASHIONALLY

For me one of the most special moments at fashion week is to see the designer’s faces when I wear their creations hoping that they like my choice of styling, which is why when Mountain Yam told me he will be back from Paris on Day 3, I’ve chosen to wear this suit from the spring summer 2013 collection from his brand 112mountainyam. I’ve really love this print from the collection and it works well with this paper top hat I made at the Stickyline Workshop that day.

Congratulations to Mountain Yam for a beautiful show and also for altering that beautiful suit for me

DAY 4 – KENAXLEUNG

TUNIC | KENAXLEIUNG , PANTS | CHEAP MONDAY , JACKET | KENAX LEUNG , SNEAKERS | JEREMY SCOTT X ADIDAS , BAG | JEREMY SCOTT X LONG CHAMP , EYEWEAR | FRENK

TUNIC | KENAXLEIUNG , PANTS | CHEAP MONDAY , JACKET | KENAX LEUNG , SNEAKERS | JEREMY SCOTT X ADIDAS , BAG | JEREMY SCOTT X LONG CHAMP , EYEWEAR | FRENK

The outfit for day 4 was an interesting day. This tunic is a sample from his Pre Spring 2015  collection by Kenax Leung which I brought the previous day. The print was very simular to his show for the Spring Summer 2015 collection so I could not resist when I realise the sample fit perfectly.  i seldom wear citrus colors but the print on the tunic strangely matched the print on my Jeremy Scott x Longchamp Monster Bag,

So thats my outfit rundown for this season’s fashion week. Can’t wait for the next season in January.  If you like those beautiful pieces I wore from Hong Kong Fashion Designers  and want to see more, please follow their pages on facebook.
